About A2B1 Lab

A2B1 Lab is written by an experienced parent of Cambridge English exam candidates, with AI assistance. Every exam fact is checked against official Cambridge sources and every page is reviewed by a human before publishing.

Why I made this site

I am a parent who has guided my own children through Cambridge English exams. Along the way I learned what actually helps a candidate: knowing exactly what each part of the exam asks for, practising with material at the right level, and getting clear explanations of why an answer works. A2B1 Lab is the resource I wanted to have at the time.

The site covers A2 Key and B1 Preliminary for teenagers aged 13 and over, adult candidates and the parents supporting them, outside mainland China. Each study session should end with something useful: a task understood, an answer improved or a language pattern remembered. I focus on a manageable collection of thorough guides rather than large amounts of repetitive material.

A2B1 Lab is not an official exam provider, and it does not promise a score, a pass or a fixed preparation timeline. Its role is to help you practise more thoughtfully and to point you to the official information when it matters.

How the content is made

Written by a parent, with AI assistance

I write and edit every guide, practice set and model answer myself, using AI tools to help draft, organise and refine the material. AI speeds up the work; it does not decide what is published. Every page is reviewed by me, a human, before it goes live.

Every fact checked against official sources

Paper names, task types, timings, word guidance and result bands are checked against the official Cambridge English format and results pages, which are linked wherever you need them. Articles show their publication and update dates. The most recent full fact check of the exam guides and articles was on 31 October 2026.

I keep exam requirements separate from study suggestions. A useful drafting habit is not automatically an assessment rule, and a word-counter reminder is not a penalty boundary.

Original practice

All practice questions, scenarios, model answers and explanations are written for A2B1 Lab. Official sample papers are never copied or rewritten. A short practice task teaches a specific skill; it is not a calibrated full mock exam. Quality labels on example answers are teaching judgements, not official grades.

Edited for usefulness and clarity

Tasks are checked for answerability, stated model-answer word counts are verified with a script, and every answer comes with an explanation. The site uses clear, British-leaning English while recognising established variants. There are no invented testimonials, named experts, credentials or success statistics.

Corrections and changes

If you spot an unclear task, a broken link or an exam detail that appears out of date, use the contact page and include the page address and the sentence or question concerned. I review specific reports, compare exam claims with the official source and correct confirmed errors. I update an article’s “Last updated” date when a substantive revision changes its guidance.

Exam arrangements can change between reviews. Check the linked official pages and your centre’s instructions before booking, paying or making travel plans. A2B1 Lab cannot resolve bookings or issue exam results.

Independence and funding

A2B1 Lab is independent of Cambridge University Press & Assessment. Qualification names are used descriptively. The disclaimer explains the relationship, and the privacy policy explains hosting, analytics and possible future advertising.

The site currently includes no ad code or AdSense script. If advertising is enabled later, it should support access to the learning material without changing the commitment to useful, original content. Advertising is not an endorsement of a course or a promise about exam outcomes.
